(Montel) Sweden’s government on Thursday proposed legislative changes that it said should remove obstacles to building new nuclear plants in the country.
“Through today’s decision, we are increasing the speed of the green transition and paving the way for more nuclear power,” said prime minister Ulf Kristersson in a statement.
The centre-right government wants to remove a rule that prevents construction of nuclear plants at new sites. It will also remove a rule that currently caps the number of reactors at 10, according to a statement.
