(Montel) French renewables developer Neoen has started construction of a 56.4 MW battery storage facility in Lappeenranta, southeastern Finland, which will become the largest of its kind in the Nordic region, it said on Wednesday.
The battery was expected to be fully operational in the first half of 2025, it added in a statement.
The unit would be housed adjacent to the firm’s already operational 30 MW Yllikkala Power Reserve One battery, bringing the company’s total battery capacity in Finland to 86.4 MW, it said.
The new unit, like the first one, would participate in TSO Fingrid’s reserve market.
