(Montel) Curbing electricity exports in response to tight domestic supply could prompt retaliatory measures across the border, said a committee of experts in Norway when tasked with assessing government policy.
Norway’s government had appointed the committee to assess different political measures when coping with exceptionally low hydropower supply and record high prices, like last year during Europe’s energy crisis.
The experts recommended the government avoid intervention measures – such as export restrictions and price caps – and favoured the current market-based model where the most expensive source sets the price every hour as being the most efficient.
