(Montel) European carbon prices look set to relax to EUR 75/t by the end of next year amid a boost in supply and bearish fundamentals, an analyst told a webinar on Tuesday.
A “very difficult” macroeconomic environment and low demand would put downward pressure on carbon prices, Icis carbon analyst Yann Andreassen said at the webinar hosted by CF Partners.
EUA prices would likely start to drop from the last quarter of this year, plateauing in the fourth quarter of 2024 before recovering to around EUR 77/t in the second quarter of 2025, according to Icis forecasts.
