(Montel) Surging demand from corporates for power purchase agreements (CPPAs) in the UK, coinciding with limited supply, has strengthened the hand of power generators during contract negotiations, said Andy Cooper, business development manager at Statkraft.
“We’ve seen a significant uptick in the number of corporates looking for corporate PPAs, while at the same time there’s been a decrease in the number of generators offering,” Cooper told Montel.
Slow planning permissions limiting the amount of available capacity and a chunk of assets being placed into the subsidy contracts for difference (CFD) scheme had squeezed supply, he added.
