(Montel) Austria and Luxembourg will challenge the European Union’s taxonomy rules before the European Court of Justice due to the inclusion of nuclear and gas, the countries’ energy ministers said on Wednesday.
The taxonomy rules, which are intended to direct investors towards projects aligned with the EU’s climate and environmental goals, were adopted by the European Parliament earlier on Wednesday.
The parliamentarians accepted that investments in gas and nuclear projects meeting specific conditions will qualify for a “green” finance label.
This prompted Austria’s climate and energy minister Leonore Gewessler to slam the taxonomy as a “greenwashing” programme.…
