(Montel) German gas usage has slumped 14% year on year in 2022 to date, with more demand destruction likely amid government attempts to reduce Russian energy dependence and continued high prices, experts told Montel this week.
Since the beginning of January, daily gas demand for non-residential, metered consumers had averaged 1.7 TWh, down 14% from a year ago and 6% below the five-year average for the period, according to data from German market operator Trading Hub Europe.
