(Montel) October’s start-up of the NSL cable linking southern Norway with the UK could further tighten supply in southern Norway adding pressure to an area already suffering high power prices, said Ole Lofsnaes of aluminium producer Alcoa.
“The UK cable couldn't have come at a worse time,” Lofsnaes, Nordic energy director at Alcoa, told the Montel Weekly podcast
The launch of the 720km, 1.4 GW cable could lead to high winter prices by drawing steady exports from southern Norway to the UK, where spot electricity prices were higher than in Norway, he added.
