(Montel) France “has to act” to enable state-owned EDF to continue to invest in nuclear power and renewables and to bring its hydropower sector into line with EU law, energy minister Barbara Pompili said on Thursday.
Questioned by MPs in France’s lower house on the government’s controversial plan to restructure EDF, Pompili said France faced “enormous” problems concerning the firm’s finance needs and the opening to competition of permits to run hydropower dams.
