(Montel) Shell and Uniper have signed a memorandum of understanding on supporting hydrogen production in key European markets, the energy companies announced on Tuesday.
Together the two aim to link major projects with industrial and mobility consumers, investigating infrastructure requirements to transport both hydrogen and carbon emissions, captured in the production of blue hydrogen from steam methane reforming.
Initial focus would be on the coastal regions of Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven, and North Rhine Westphalia, all key German and Dutch industrial consumer bases.
