(Montel) Edison Energy has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with renewable developer Chiron Energy for the supply of 45 GWh a year from solar plants in Italy, the Italian utility said on Thursday.
The eight solar plants, in the northern regions of Piedmont and Veneto, were expected to come on stream in the first half of 2023, added Edison.
Edison aimed to increase its installed renewable capacity to 5 GW by 2030 from the current 2 GW. It also planned to install 1 GW of energy storage and at least 500 MW for the production of green hydrogen.
