(Montel) Russia state-owned energy firm Gazprom is planning to use part of the defunct Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to supply parts of northwest Russia, it said on Thursday.
The firm would utilise the “excess Russian onshore gas transmission capacities of the Nord Stream 2 project” as the pipeline to Germany was “not in use”, it added in a statement via Telegram.
It made the announcement in light of the fact the completed 55bcm/year pipeline had been prevented from operating as Berlin revoked its operating licence in light of the war in Ukraine.
